The Background:
Reporting to the International Assignments Director the role of International Assignments Manager will be responsible for providing a top tier service to a dedicated portfolio of internal International Assignees. You will ensure all aspects of the International Assignees life cycle, from posting to repatriation/retirement, are delivered in a 100% accurate, timely and confidential manner.
The Role:
The successful candidate will be responsible but not limited to the following:
- Management and administration of international assignment processes and procedures
- Provide detailed and regular (monthly and annual) expatriate cost reports to both central and regional finance and HR teams
- Provision of advice to local line and HR management on appropriate structures of assignment reward and remuneration, taking into account local market conditions and differentials
- Provision of advice to local line and HR management on structure of assignment letters and contractual terms to achieve greatest tax efficiencies, including annual meetings and training HR staff on trends, taxes and key expat issues, and policies and processes
- Liaison with external experts, to provide information, advice and guidelines on overseas tax and social security regimes to ensure employer and employee compliance
- To provide specific advice and solutions to local line and HR management on immigration issues and to ensure maintenance of treaty visas where appropriate
- To provide specific advice and ongoing support on international assignment management, including practicalities of overseas moves and set up of home search, shipping, orientation, utilities, school searches etc to assignees
- To liaise with local and international payrolls to support the correct set up of reward and remuneration, tax and social security
- To manage ongoing relationships with external third party providers and suppliers, and to take the lead in negotiations with third party providers; manage overall service levels and budgets
The Person:
The successful candidate will have previous experience dealing with: international assignments, global mobility and expatriate management issues. Applicants with additional experience dealing with technical expatriate taxation and compensation issues would be desirable but not essential. Finally, the ability to build relationships with and communicate in a clear and confident manner with overseas HR departments and International Assignees would be an added advantage.
