China’s new work permit portal to go live on 19 June

From 19 June 2017, companies conducting business in China must register on a new work permit (WP) online portal, to enable them to submit WP applications for employees of non-Chinese origin.

The State Administration of Foreign Experts Affairs (SAFEA) in Beijing has announced that the new work permit (WP) online portal will go live on 19 June 2017. All companies are required to register under the new portal to submit foreigners' WP applications.

Who is affected?

  • All clients conducting business in the People’s Republic of China (PRC)

What you need to do

  • All companies not registered under the new online portal are advised to do so before 19 June
  • Your immigration services provider can assist with company online portal registration on your or your client’s behalf, and will advise you of any delay in applications as a result of the above
  • Contact your immigration services representative for further details of how these updates may impact you or your clients
