Judges

Alan Bentley

Alan is a Director of IPM, which provides specialist international assignment services. He has key account responsibilities with a number of the company’s major clients, headquartered in the UK and overseas. His career has focused on financial services and travel, and he has experience in all aspects of HR at a senior level, including international and executive compensation for local nationals, expatriates and third-country nationals, with HSBC and Thomas Cook.

A staunch supporter of the awards, Alan comments, “Re:locate magazine is an excellent resource for both relocation and HR professionals. The Re:locate Awards reinforce their commitment to the industry, and I am delighted to support Fiona and her team as a judge in the first year of the awards.”

Ian Cloke

Ian is a director in Deloitte’s London office and heads the company’s International HR consulting group in Europe. He specialises in cross-border compensation consulting, process improvement and international HR outsourcing.

He qualified as a chartered accountant before turning to HR management, and has spent much of his career in the banking sector, notably with ING Barings and, latterly, with Credit Suisse First Boston, where he was head of the International Personnel Services group.

Ian has over 10 years’ experience in consulting. He set up and established an international HR and outsourcing practice for another of the big professional firms before joining Deloitte in 1999.

He has published many articles, and speaks at conferences and seminars on matters related to international HR management.

Elaine Crowe

Elaine Crowe is the Relocation Manager of the Rank Group, and has been
responsible for dome
stic and international relocation for the last 14 years.

She has moved senior managers for Odeon Cinemas, Rank Leisure, Rank
Holidays, Hard Rock Cafes, Mecca Bingo and Grosvenor Casinos. She was
also responsible for the group Headquarters move in 1998 .

Currently, she is the acting Chair person of the Relocation User Group (RUG), and actively supports industry best practice initiatives.

With RUG endorsing the Re:locate Awards, Elaine believes that "formal recognition of best practice can only enhance our function's reputation and effectiveness in industry."

Siobhan Cummins

Siobhan is Managing Director, Europe, of ORC Worldwide, and an Executive Vice President of the firm. Responsible for the management and development of ORC’s international compensation services practice in Europe, she is also actively involved in international project consulting and the design and development of international assignment policies.

Siobhan speaks at conferences and meetings in the UK and internationally, and is a regular contributor of articles to a number of magazines on a range of expatriate-related issues. She is President of the CIPD's International Committee, a member of World at Work, a board member of the Permits Foundation and a member of the Advisory Council of AHRMIO.

Explaining her enthusiasm for the awards, Siobhan says, “International assignments are crucial to the success of any organisation that has globalisation and talent management at the top of its agenda. I welcome the Re:locate Awards as an initiative that will highlight the close relationship that should exist between international mobility and the importance of good planning and best practice in achieving corporate goals."

Clare Harrison

Clare Harrison has worked in the relocation industry in the UK since 1987.

Unilever hired Clare in 2001 to implement the consolidation of its relocation activities across the Unilever UK companies within an in-house HR Shared Services organisation.

In 2007 Unilever announced that it was outsourcing its HR administration globally to Accenture and its expatriate administration to Ernst & Young. During this year she worked on the global project team. EY commenced delivery of the outsourced services in September 2007. Clare’s role is currently as International Mobility Manager, Europe and European Reward Manager for cross-border moves. She has responsibility for the EY/Unilever interface for Europe and internally for the expatriates on assignment in Europe.

Clare has lived in France, Switzerland and North America. Clare is an Alumna of the London Business School.

Mima Hillier

Mima is founder and Managing Director of TTH Relocation, which has been providing relocation services to the corporate sector since 1996. During the last 12 years, she has been working closely with numerous HR directors and HR teams, assisting with policy formulation and managing the relocation for their domestic and international assignees (4000+). She is currently finishing her MBA studies at Henley Management College, researching the recent changes in global mobility and the new challenges they bring to the HR profession.

Mima has served 6 years on the ARP (Association of Relocation Professionals) council, the last two as Chairman. She represented the ARP on the EARP (European Academy of Relocation Professionals) board during 2005-2007, developing training for the relocation industry across borders.

Mima is delighted to be part of the Re:locate Awards, and feels that “The recognition of all the work, by everyone from HR to providers, which goes on to support global and domestic mobility, is well overdue.”

Tim Hyatt

Tim is Knight Frank LLP's Head of Lettings and a Partner in the firm. His expertise covers both sales and lettings and property management.

Having begun his career in 1991, Tim rose through the ranks to become Director of Lettings, with responsibility for a multi-million-pound business with 1,500 properties under management.In 2003, he joined Knight Frank as Partner in charge of UK lettings, property management and accounts. He is responsible for all new initiatives and coordination with other divisions within Knight Frank (both commercial and residential), and has been particularly involved in the marketing and PR aspects of his division.

Tim is passionate about the Re:locate Awards. “I am delighted to be involved in anything that rewards people for excellence in what they do. It also shows that people care about what they are doing and that they are keen to protect the integrity of their industry.”

Judy Oliver

Judy is a coach and facilitator specialising in leadership development, strategic thinking, transition planning and facilitation of internal and multi-agency partnerships and community consultations. Her wide-ranging experience covers both the public and the private sector, embracing everything from the NHS to the oil industry.

Judy is a qualified barrister (with employment law as her specialism), a Fellow of the CIPD and an Honorary Visiting Fellow of Canterbury Christ Church University. She is also an accredited assessor for the Myers Brigg Type Indicator and has qualified as a Thinking Environment Consultant with Nancy Kline.

Her commitment to the Re:locate Awards is clear. “Global business often takes for granted the skill and sensitivity needed to ensure that relocation within and between countries enables the people concerned to achieve a smooth transition for themselves, their partners and their families. This awards scheme offers us an opportunity to formally acknowledge the efforts which so often are hidden but mean so much. I am very proud to be associated with it from the start by being one of the judges.”

Frances Wilson

Frances is Manager International at the CIPD and a key representative on regular forums concerned with international people management and development issues. She participates in the work of HR associations around the globe and brings together people professionals from different countries in CIPD exchange meetings.

Frances has project-managed many pieces of work in key areas of international HR, such as reward and recognition, recruitment and management development. She is currently looking at the impact of HR professionals in mergers and acquisitions, and is leading a major project researching the business role of international people management professionals.

Commenting on the Re:locate Awards, Frances says, “Global mobility is a key focus for many organisations, and it's appropriate for relocation's vital part in it to be recognised. Ensuring that the practical aspects of an international move go smoothly makes sound business sense; it helps the assignee to be effective in the new assignment as quickly as possible and enables the family to settle more easily in their new surroundings.”
