My enduring memory of Shanghai was the view of the river from my hotel room, with the constant flow of barges and cargo ships carrying building materials and containers throughout the day and night. This is a growth city, a place of manufacture, commerce and retail. It is fast-paced, focused and energetic, from the neon lights to the designer shopping outlets, from the skyline of tower cranes and new office blocks to the streams of office workers hitting the streets and the metro at the end of the day. Powering that growth is a thirst for knowledge and expertise to take China on to the next stage. There are exciting times ahead for mobility specialists.
