Romania and Bulgaria to join EU on 1 January 2007

Britain has confirmed that workers from the two countries will face restrictions, allowing only gradual access to jobs. This follows the public outcry that an estimated 600,000 immigrants arrived in the UK from the 10 countries that joined in 2004.
