Serviced apartment agent SilverDoor has won the Best Property Provider or Solution category of the Re:locate Awards 2012/13, which celebrate the contribution of HR and relocation professionals to global business. Also on the shortlist were serviced accommodation companies BridgeStreet Residences Serviced Apartments Suites, Go Native, SACO, and The Apartment Service, as well as Buckinghamshire-based Chiltern Relocation. Between them, this year’s 10 Re:locate Awards recognised individuals, teams, policy and innovation, with a choice of categories for HR and service providers. Entries were subjected to rigorous scrutiny by a team of independent judges. The shortlist, which included companies and individuals from the UK and overseas, reflected the many different types of organisation involved in relocation, from HR people to specialist support providers of various kinds. Winners were presented with their trophies on Thursday 9 May 2013 at a champagne reception and gala dinner held at London’s Institute of Directors, with special guest speaker and host Stephen Cole, international broadcaster and foreign-affairs authority. The Best Property Provider or Solution award recognises how important finding accommodation is to successful relocation. Entrants must explain who their customers are, and how and why they provide an excellent service and significant contribution to relocation, with supporting evidence. This year’s entries came from a range of organisations, including property sales and lettings companies and destination services providers, as well as serviced accommodation companies. Winner SilverDoor’s entry was described by the judges as “outstanding – impressive and comprehensive.” Among the factors noted by the judges were the quality of staff training, the company’s investment in a new, bespoke system that streamlines administration, its apprentice programme, and its status as one of the Sunday Times 100 Best Small Companies to Work For 2012.
The winners of this year’s Re:locate Awards, which recognise the specialist contribution of companies and individuals involved in relocation, were announced and presented with their trophies on Thursday 9 May 2013 at a champagne reception and gala dinner held at London’s Institute of Directors. Among them were representatives of supplier organisations large and small. The event attracted record attendance. In what was also the best year so far for entries to the awards, which have become the ultimate recognition of excellence in all aspects of relocation, both in the UK and internationally, more than 200 guests from across the relocation spectrum – including HR professionals and suppliers – networked the night away as they awaited the announcement of the winners. They were entertained and informed by this year’s celebrity host and guest speaker, international broadcaster and foreign-affairs authority Stephen Cole. Speaking before the gala dinner, Fiona Murchie, managing editor of Re:locate, the magazine for HR professionals, global managers and relocation specialists, said, “With increasing globalisation, the need for mobility is also growing, so it’s no surprise that, following steady increases each year since 2007, when the awards began, this has been our best year yet for entries, with hot competition across all categories.” She added, “It’s clear that, when compiling their submissions, many entrants took inspiration from the judges’ comments on previous years’ winners and our series of awards newsletters and webinars. This is resulting in a year-on-year rise in standards, which means that – as we always intended – the awards are helping to promote best practice.”
