The British Overseas territories of Anguilla, Bermuda, the British Virgin Islands, Montserrat and the Turks and Caicos Islands have undertaken to automatically share information with the UK as part of a crackdown on tax evasion.

There’s lots to look forward to in the Autumn 2012 edition of Re:locate magazine (out 21 September), including three international features. Following on from the well-received USA coverage in our Autumn 2011 edition, and reflecting Re:locate’s role as media partner for the prestigious HR Excellence Conference and Worldwide ERC Global Workforce Symposium, to be held in Washington DC, one of this issue’s highlights will be a focus on the USA and its enduring appeal as a relocation destination during this presidential election year.
We’ll also analyse the relocation scene in Australia, which took sixth place in the list of the top ten new countries to which respondents to Cartus’s 2012 Global Relocation Trends survey had been sending assignees since 2010. We discover what the current issues are for employers in Australia and those managing international assignments to the region.
Other editorial features:
-
Culture focus – cross culture expert Mary Beauregard of Global LT explores what really makes an employee culturally competent. She looks at the importance of cultural awareness and training, not only for international assignees and business travellers, but also the benefits of preparing the whole family for a relocation move
-
Beyond third culture kids – Wendy Wilson explains how the Third Culture Kids model has moved on to Ruth Van Reken’s, of Families in Global Transitions (FIGT), new normal of Cross Cultural Kids and exciting new research plans which could be of great significance to employers in a globalising world
-
International – As the range of international destinations widens and reliance on international assignees to open and develop new markets increases, so the need for assignees to have global understanding gains prominence. Sue Shortland reports on the benefits to organisations of developing a global mindset
-
UK hotspots – Continuing our UK hotspots series, we examine Scotland as a magnet for relocation and inward investment. Is the independence debate having an impact? We also consider Oxford’s growing appeal as a relocation destination and centre of excellence
-
Relocation policy – As the spotlight continues to focus on how to make international relocation policies more effective, Sue Shortland analyses recent trends in compensation, compliance and cost control
-
Social media is here to stay - We look at its impact on relocation and relocation professionals, and consider how HR can further harness this powerful and fast-developing means of communication beyond recruitment into talent management and the realms of global mobility
-
Environment – How some of the relocation industry’s big hitters are embracing best practice, and winning business, by putting environmental policies at the heart of what they do
-
International mobility – The range of destination locations for international assignees continues to widen. Sue Shortland reports on recent location trends and their implications for international assignment policies
-
Tax – The UK’s Statutory Residence Test, to be introduced April 2013, is a significant development in the world of expatriate taxation. We examine how the test will affect international assignees and their employers
-
Education – To complement our country coverage, our education features will have a special international schools’ focus looking at the issues facing families relocating to Australia and the USA
-
As the new academic year begins we provide a timely update on education changes in the UK and tips on finding schools places for the year ahead
-
Awards – Launching the Re:locate Awards 2012/13!
We are delighted to announce that eight of the 10 categories in this year’s Re:locate Awards have now been sponsored.
Don’t miss this chance to position your organisation at the forefront of the industry through association with relocation’s premier awards! With a choice of categories for HR and service providers, there’s sure to be one that’s a perfect fit for your company.
