IKAN report: Deadline extended for linking of PAN – Aadhaar
The Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT), the Indian government’s policymaking body of the tax department, has extended the deadline for mandatory PAN-Aadhaar linking until 31 Mar 2019.
Additional time to prepare Biometric ID
CBDT’s latest order said the deadline for the PAN-Aadhaar linking for filing Income Tax returns was being extended after “consideration of the matter”.It is understood that the fresh CBDT order has come against the backdrop of the Supreme Court of India earlier this year directing extension of the March 31, 2018 deadline for linking Aadhaar card with various other services. The apex court in March had ordered that the deadline be extended until its constitution bench delivers its judgment on petitions challenging the validity of the biometric scheme and the enabling law. Accordingly, the Indian government has extended it for an indefinite period.Related stories:

Also quoting an Aadhaar number for filing the Income Tax returns will not be mandatory this year in line to CBDT order.IKAN Relocation will continue to track further developments on Aadhaar card hearing and keep regularly informed its corporate customers, clients and all relevant parties.Relocate’s new Global Mobility Toolkit provides free information, practical advice and support for HR, global mobility managers and global teams operating overseas.Access hundreds of global services and suppliers in our Online Directory
