Arrivals and Champagne Reception - 2015/16 Relocate Awards

Relocate Global was thrilled to welcome guests from as far afield as India, the USA and Switzerland. This year, too, more than 50 per cent of entries were international – confirmation of how the awards’ global reputation has grown.Friends, colleagues and associates greeted each other warmly, and rivals wished one another luck as the anticipation grew. As guests moved to the impressive Porter Tun room for the Gala Awards Dinner, it became clear that the stage was set for a really fabulous evening.Fiona Murchie, Relocate Global’s managing editor, welcomed everyone to this year’s awards, which, she said, were being held in “a fitting location in which to bring together the best and the brightest in the relocation sector, who are driving the global mobility agenda”. Speaking of the importance of mobility in a fast-changing world, she told her audience, "What you do, in whatever sector you are in, is important", and added, "This is an exciting time for anyone working in global mobility, and we at Relocate are here to support what you do and the business travellers, the relocating employees, and the families."Master of Ceremonies and seasoned speaker John Simonett handled the evening with aplomb, and, to amused astonishment, performed what may have been the world’s first card trick via Twitter.Further amusement came from an unexpected source, when three waiters began behaving strangely. Dinner guests exchanged nervous glances before it gradually became clear that these men, who posed as rivals, were, in reality, highly skilled singers and entertainers. The three waiters entertained the audience at the Relocate Awards 2015 2016.Their performance closed with a rousing rendition of Nessun Dorma, and guests twirled their napkins in the air in appreciation. The audience at the Relocate Awards enjoys the performance of the Three Waiters Throughout the delicious three-course dinner, magicians moved among the tables and drew gasps of amazement at their tricks. "This is a really fabulous evening," said Tom Meertens, of Oakwood Worldwide.
