Dandelion Montessori School

Established in 2023, Dandelion Montessori School is a boutique, international Montessori school, located in the Minato ward of Tokyo catering to students from 3 to 6 years old Nursery, Reception and Year 1 (UK) or Pre-school and Kindergarten (US). It is the culmination of the varied and extensive experience of its founders, a Japanese/South African couple who have worked in the International Education field in Tokyo for over three decades.

As a small school, we offer a personal touch, designed to enhance the experience of all the families and the young learners who attend our school, in our close-knit community. Children at Dandelion are joyful and resilient. They are guided to think and act independently and given daily opportunities to make personal choices and to become aware of how their choices affect others in the community.

One of the hallmarks of a Montessori education is the emphasis on practical life skills. Children are taught how to take care of themselves, their environment, and others through hands-on activities such as cooking, gardening, and cleaning. These activities not only build independence and self-confidence, but also teach important life skills that will serve children well in the future. A Dandelion education also helps children develop strong problem-solving and critical thinking skills. Children are encouraged to ask questions, explore, and make connections between different subjects and areas of study.

We welcome a diverse makeup of nationalities and are committed to enabling each family whose children are enrolled at Dandelion, to have a positive and enriched experience. All of our teachers and administrators are AMI trained and adhere to the practices and principles as outlined by Dr Maria Montessori. We pride ourselves on offering authentic Montessori education to our community of leaners.
