The National Mathematics and Science College

The National Mathematics and Science College is dedicated to providing a world-class education in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths) to 6th formers who wish to gain places at this country’s and the world’s leading universities. We accept students aged 15 to 18 years for enrolment on our Two or Three year A level programmes, and in certain cases we can accommodate students who wish to enrol on a One year A level study course.

Team includes Dr Martin Stephen, Dr Philip Limbert, Olympiad medal winning teachers, Gifted and Talented Specialists, and STEM ambassadors.

The College is led by Dr Martin Stephen who has over forty years experience of teaching highly able students (former posts include High-master of St Paul's (London), The Perse (Cambridge) and Manchester Grammar School) and is run by Headmaster Dr Philip Limbert, one of UK's most successful state school headmasters and a National Leader of Education. Teaching is delivered by a fantastic team comprising Olympiad medal winning teachers, Gifted and Talented Specialists and STEM ambassadors. The result is a high performing high achieving 6th Form College with superb pastoral care and mentoring.

Preparing students for Oxbridge, the Ivy League and top medical schools

All our teachers possess excellent track records in preparing students for Oxbridge, Ivy League and top medical schools including Imperial, UCL, Queen Mary and Cambridge, and Dr Stephen alone has successfully prepared hundreds of students for the Universities of Oxford and Cambridge.

Extracurriculars include swimming, tennis, drama and the Parliamentor Programme

Students also enjoy an enriching co-curricular programme including weekly team sports with an adjacent Academy and membership at the nearby Xcel Sports Centre boasting a 25 metre 6 lane swimming pool, 6 tennis courts, 4 indoor courts and a fully equipped gym. Saturday drama workshops run by Coventry's The Belgrade Theatre and Sunday excursions ensure that weekends are fulfilling and fun. Unique to NMSC  is The Parliamentor Programme - a structured series of visits and talks exploring Parliament, as well as interviews with Members of Parliament, culminating in an Annual Award Ceremony.

Accommodation is comfortable and provides 24/7 security

Accommodation is provided in the College Hall of Residence, a newly purpose built block of cheerful en-suite bedrooms providing comfort and security 24/7. Younger students are offered the option to stay with a carefully vetted family in association with The Sutherland Guardianship and accredited by Aegis.

We are located in the heart of the Midlands, world renowned not only for its industrial heritage but increasingly as a centre of innovation and technology. Less than 90 minutes from London and within easy reach of Heathrow and Birmingham International, NMSC is well placed to cater for overseas students.

How to apply to the National Mathematics and Science College

To apply, students are required to sit the Entrance Maths exam and if applicable an English Exam. All applicants will be interviewed by the Headmaster and are requested to provide a school report. Main entry is September, but we do operate November and January entries on a case by case basis. We accept students aged 15 to 18 years.
