When can I enter this year’s Re:locate Awards?

Entry forms will be available from Monday 3 November 2014.

What is the deadline for entering this year’s Re:locate Awards?

The deadline for entering the Re:locate Awards 2014/15 is Friday 13 March 2015.

Why should I enter the Re:locate Awards?

How do I enter?

The entry process is very straightforward. There are three easy steps:
  1. Download an entry form from our website
  2. Complete the form in full, including an entry statement and submissions against five criteria
  3. Email your completed entry form to awards@relocatemagazine.com, with supporting documentation

How can I maximise my chances of winning?

  • Follow the entry criteria to the letter
  • Take the same approach to compiling your entry as you would to preparing a tender document or job application
  • Listen to our series of special awards webinars, which starts in November 2014

Do you accept entries from outside the UK?

We welcome entries from international organisations, as long as they are in English.We have a category especially for international entrants, Best International Destination Services Provider.

Is there a charge for entering?

You can enter a maximum of three award categories free of charge. Further entries are charged at £100 + VAT each, to cover administration.

When and where will the winners receive their awards?

Winners will be presented with their trophies at the annual Gala Awards Dinner, which takes place on Thursday 14 May 2015 at the Institute of Directors, in central London. It’s a fantastic event, with fine food and wine, entertainment and networking opportunities, plus a special celebrity host and guest speaker.Top

Judging

How are the entries judged?

  • Entries are judged according to their entry statement and submissions against five criteria. The criteria vary from category to category
  • The judges, who are independent experts, allocate points against the entry statement and each of the criteria. The entry statement attracts the most points
  • The judges can select a shortlist of a maximum of three finalists, and, where necessary, may investigate further by telephone or email
  • Two or three members of the panel are selected to judge each category. The exception is the Relocation Personality of the Year award, the winner of which is chosen by all the judges

Are the judges independent?

The judges are totally independent of Re:locate. They are all experts in their field, chosen to reflect the diversity of those working in the world of relocation and international assignments and the wide range of suppliers and professionals who support relocation and mobility.Two or three members of the panel are selected to judge each category. The exception is the Relocation Personality of the Year award, the winner of which is chosen by all the judges.Judges are not invited to judge a category their company has entered, and sponsors, supporters and professional endorsers do not influence the judging process in any way.Details of this year’s judging panel will be announced in the Judges section in spring 2014. Technological Innovation in Relocation

Can I enter a piece of HR software that’s used to manage international assignments? Would a cross-cultural support tool, or a payroll and tax solution, be eligible?

To be eligible, the technology must be innovative and support relocation or international assignments, or make the experience better for those managing, or undergoing, a move.Relocation management and tax-tracking software, solutions for global mobility training or communication or cross-cultural support, are all eligible, as are innovative recruitment and talent management solutions.For full details of this award, and to download your entry form (available from Monday 3 November 2014), click here.Top

Inspirational HR Team of the Year

How do you define a ‘team’ in this context?

You don’t need to be managing domestic or international assignments to enter this category. Perhaps you’re involved in talent management or resourcing, working with other internal departments (for example, tax and/or immigration) and/or external suppliers as part of a wider team managing relocations. Best Managing or Growing Talent Initiative

What types of initiative are eligible for this award, and who can enter?

Initiatives can include graduate schemes that nurture the next generation of global executives and leaders, as well as career development programmes for established employees who are ready for their next step.HR and mobility professionals managing domestic or international assignments are eligible to enter, as are those from talent management, recruitment and resourcing teams and departments, both UK and internationally based.For full details of this award, and to download your entry form (available from Monday 3 November 2014), click hereTop

Best HR & Supplier Strategy or Team

Who is this award designed for? Can work in progress be entered, or just completed projects?

This category recognises the outstanding work being done by HR and supplier partnerships, both UK and internationally based.It is aimed at HR teams working with a supplier to deliver a relocation strategy that enhances the organisation's business objectives and/or the quality of the relocation support provided to individual employees.The HR team can be working with the supplier on a particular project that requires a new strategy. Relocation Service Provider or Team of the Year

Given the diversity and different sizes of the organisations in this sector, how is it possible to judge them against each other?

Subject to sufficient breadth of entries, we will subdivide this category to reward different types and sizes of organisation – large organisations, small organisations and specialist providers – as we have done in previous years.There are several shining examples of smaller companies who’ve won this award, including Beswick Relocation Services, which won the Small Company category at the 2009/10 awards and was highly commended at the 2007/8 awards.For full details of this award, and to download your entry form (available from Monday 3 November 2014), click hereTop

Best Property Provider or Solution

What sort of companies can enter this category? Given that previous winners have been serviced accommodation providers, is the award just for organisations in this field?

We are keen to encourage entries from as wide a range of organisations as possible. Financial Support & Innovation

What types of financial support are eligible for entry to this category?

This award recognises providers of specialist financial support to corporate clients and/or relocating employees and their families. Immigration Team of the Year

This category recognises providers of specialist immigration support to companies that are relocating employees and their families. Does this mean that entry is open to teams from specialist immigration companies only?

Global Health & Wellness

What types of organisation can enter this category?

This category reflects the growing awareness among employers of the contribution made by health and wellness initiatives to the welfare of staff and the success of the business, so we wanted to give it as wide a relevance as possible.Entry is open to the full range of companies that provide health and wellness solutions, from international medical insurance to workplace wellness and employee assistance programmes.Suppliers of security services and emergency assistance are also eligible, as are organisations providing family support, including childcare and eldercare solutions.Employers may wish to enter their in-house wellness schemes.For full details of this award, and to download your entry form (available from Monday November 2014), click here Top

Excellence in Employee & Family Support

What is the thinking behind this award, and who is eligible to enter it?

We set up this category in response to demand from specialist providers who felt they didn’t fit in to other categories.It is open to individuals and organisations, from any sector, that provide a specialist service to relocating employees and their families. Best International Destination Services Provider

Does the name of this award mean that UK-based providers can’t enter?

You are welcome to enter, as long as you are dealing with international clients.Is some sort of quality accreditation necessary to enter this category?You don’t necessarily need formal accreditation – which can be burdensome for small companies – but you must demonstrate excellence in delivering core DSP services, including orientation, home search, settling-in and departures, plus any other subsidiary services you may offer, such as school search, cultural awareness, and so on.You’ll also need to show proof of consistently high standards and customer satisfaction, the quality of your documentation, and your ability to lead, manage and communicate.And of course, having the EuRA Quality Seal or similar accreditation may be an indication of your suitability to enter.For full details of this award, and to download your entry form (available from Monday 3 November 2014), click here Top

Relocation Personality of the Year

What sort of person are you looking for in the Relocation Personality of the Year category?

This award is open to anyone working in HR, and relocation suppliers, both UK and internationally based. The judges will looking for someone who has contributed to the profession or industry over a number of years (at least ten), or achieved something truly outstanding.Previous winners of this category demonstrate its breadth. They are:
  • Carol Moore, of GSK Services Unlimited (2007/8), who had contributed to relocation over a number of years, notably in the Relocation Users Group
  • Martin Humphrys, of Humphrys’ Education (2008/9)
  • Iain Crichton, of The Furniture Rental Company (2009/10)
  • Tad Zurlinden, of the ARP and EuRA (2010/11)
  • Joseph Morabito, of Paragon Global Resources, and Margaret Moes, of Clearview Relocation (2011/12)
