Southbank International School

Southbank International School is an International Baccalaureate (IB) World School for 3-18 year olds with campuses in Hampstead, Kensington and Westminster in London. It was the first school in the UK to be authorised to offer all three International Baccalaureate (IB) programmes. The school has led the way in providing an internationally focussed world class education for 30 years.

Welcoming students from across the globe, Southbank is currently home to 70 nationalities. Our student population is drawn from London’s international community – including children of ex-pats, business people, diplomats, academics and other professionals. The language of instruction at the school is English and we offer 20 other languages. Students who need to learn English as an additional language are supported through dedicated EAL lessons.

We pride ourselves on our academic and teaching excellence, as testified by the 2016 IB Diploma results:

• Our average diploma score was 35

• The world average is around 29

• A quarter of Southbank students achieved a Bilingual Diploma, a testament to the truly international nature of our community

• Once again, we are proud to see a record number of Southbank students achieving 40 points or higher with 22% of our students in this bracket, putting them in the top 7% of students worldwide.

• 11% of our students achieved 42 points or above, putting them in the top 3% of students worldwide.

• 1 student gained 44 points, a feat achieved by only 0.6% of students worldwide.

These outstanding results allowed the vast majority of students to gain admission to top universities in the UK, North America and other parts of the world.

We take seriously the IB goals of educating the whole person and fostering a more compassionate and active citizenry. Southbank students engage in the local community and undertake a wide variety of charity work for causes in the UK and abroad. Every year we recognise a student or group of students whose activities have demonstrated a genuine sense of service to others. The school has a strong extracurricular programme that reflects its commitment to holistic education and the development of students’ potential in its widest sense. Music, sport, and drama – among other activities – contribute to a rich diet of opportunities.

We use London as our classroom, taking full advantage of the city’s cultural riches. Southbank students are fortunate to be located in the centre of one of the world’s great cities. The richness of London’s museums, historic buildings and theatres offers our students access to educational enrichment that is perhaps unparalleled anywhere else in the world.
