Dr Sue Shortland
DR SUE SHORTLAND is a Senior Lecturer in HRM at the University of Westminster and also holds the honorary title of Professor Emerita at London Metropolitan University. She is a Chartered Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Personnel & Development and a Senior Fellow of the Higher Education Academy. She holds external examiner positions at Sheffield Hallam University and Oxford Brookes University.Sue is an active researcher and has published widely in academic journals and practitioner publications. She is the author of five books in the field of HRM. Prior to working in Higher Education, Sue worked in a managerial consultancy role in international HRM at KPMG and managed The CBI Employee Relocation Council.“This year the judges were looking to see how the entrants had managed the challenging circumstances arising from the pandemic and how they managed to achieve excellence during adversity. Paul Ethelston
MARK ETHELSTON has over 26 years’ experience in International Assignments / Global Mobility which encompasses programme and policy management, strategic policy and programme development, technology implementation, expatriate taxation, vendor selection and strategic account management.Much of Mark’s experience has been focused on the financial services industry and companies with project-based assignment requirements. Having worked in client-facing managed services, advisory and in-house capacities, Mark has the advantage of understanding clients’ challenges and needs from the inside.He also has an unusually broad experience across all key aspects of global mobility, which is further enhanced by a mix of both strategic / advisory and operational / process-driven aspects in roles to date. He also benefits from the experiences of being on assignment to the United States and working as a local hire in Hong Kong.

FIONA MURCHIE, Managing Editor, Relocate & Relocate Global, has over 25 years’ experience in management and HR publishing and global mobility. PAUL WILLIAMSON heads up learning and development at The Ambassadors Theatre Group (ATG), a global live entertainment business.ATG owns and operates close to 50 venues worldwide, is an internationally recognised and award-winning producer, and operates a market leading theatre ticketing business.He has worked in the theatre industry for over 20 years, enjoying leadership roles in sales and ticketing prior to moving into Human Resources. Paul has developed a number of in-house development programmes for ATG, including ‘Leading Lights’ – a residential leadership development programme for senior leaders, and ‘Rising Stars’ – a two-year development programme for emerging leaders.He is also an internal coach and has worked closely with The Academy of Executive Coaching (AoEC), developing in-house coaching capability within the organisation to support the various programmes ATG run.Paul is a chartered member of the CIPD, an AoEC qualified executive coach and a Hogan personality assessor.
