Clarissa Farr is an expert in education and leadership. As former High Mistress of St Paul's Girl's School for 11 years, she led one of the country's top academic schools. In her book, The Making of Us: Why School Matters now available in paperback, she provides insights not only about how to bring out the best in girls to flourish in the modern competitive world, but also about building the rootedness and grounded sense of self confidence and community that is instantly recognisable in so many of the best schools across the private, international and state sector.

Jonathan Anderson, Headmaster, Merchiston

Jonathan Anderson is Headmaster of Merchiston Castle School in Edinburgh, one of the UK’s leading boarding schools, and a member of the World Leading Schools Association; the only school in Scotland. Merchiston stands alone as the only boys’ school north of the Home Counties and, yet, its unique culture and ethos owed not only to its single-sex status, has resulted in a superb stream of accolades. Merchiston offers the English curriculum, but with a global, outward-looking dimension. Committed to leading students towards ‘personal excellence’, Merchiston has an impressive record of helping boys excel far beyond their expected results. Jonathan’s passion is in ensuring that all pupils experience an educational experience that is truly their own. He sees the success of what Merchiston offers to pupils on many occasions, but, perhaps most significantly at the end of their school career: they are leaving not just a school, but a place where they have grown up together in every respect.

I am an experienced Leader within Education. Core to my philosophy of education is inspiration. I believe that a school should strive to inspire every learner that comes into the classroom to believe in their talents, apply their abilities and reap the rewards of learning. Inclusivity is important and I feel that as a member of an educational establishment no learner should ever be left out in the cold; we must motivate all learners. We must work hard to find ways to allow each learner to meet their potential, and even exceed their apparent potential. Being flexible around learning styles, adaptable to individual needs and focussed on the process of learning means that those in our care can grow into well rounded citizens of the world.

Find the perfect school from the comfort of your home

Now is the ideal time to discover the right school for your child. As schools hosted Open Days and Virtual Events throughout the autumn, we used the opportunity throughout November to showcase the schools around the world that welcome relocating families and international students, not only at the beginning of a new academic year, but also at any time, with rolling admissions to meet the needs of families on the move.

The next Great International Education & Schools' Fair is coming in spring 2021
