US federal courts block majority of latest travel ban ruling

The majority of the latest US travel ban has been blocked by the US federal courts. Nationals from Iran, Lybia, Syria and other countries will be allowed access into the US.

Trump immigration ban temporarily overruled

On the 17th of October, Hawaii's US District Court Judge, Derrick Watson, issued a nationwide temporary restraining order in the Hawaii versus Trump case, which blocks a majority of travel restrictions in President Trump's latest ‘travel ban’ order, effective on the 18th of October, 2017. For details on the 25th of September order here.That same day, US District Court Judge Theodore Chuang of Maryland issued a nationwide preliminary injunction in the IRAP versus Trump case, prohibiting the enforcement of Trump's order.

Visas will continue to be processed for the majorty of countries

Both the temporary restraining order and preliminary injunction prohibit the enforcement of section 2 of President Trump's latest ‘travel ban’, applying to nationals of Iran, Libya, Syria, Yemen, Somalia, and Chad.Nationals from these six countries will not be restricted from traveling to the US as officials will “resume regular processing of visas”.
