Taking time out to review and set life goals: Interview with Belinda Smith, Grace Coaching

Our lives are busy, so at Think Women International Celebration, Belinda Smith of Grace Coaching will provide an opportunity to pause, reflect and discuss leadership for women.

Thoughtful woman in an office
When was the last occasion you took time out to really think through your life goals and priorities? In today’s technology-dominated life it is hard to switch off, even when we have left the office or are at home at the weekend. This means that we rarely have the headspace to think about where we are heading; what our short and long term goals are and whether we are moving towards the life we want. It lead to feeling caught in a rut, trying to cope with the day to day demands of work and family, and the danger of burnout.

A toolkit for the working woman

At our lunchtime networking and discussion session on Friday May 8 to celebrate International Women’s Day, our coaches will help you develop a toolkit to deal with all the demands that come with being a working woman. There will be time to review your professional life, how that fits into the other, personal aspects of your time outside work, and how a collaborative approach to work and leadership can bring about positive change.Belinda Smith of Grace Coaching will be one at the facilitators at the Think Women International Women's Day Celebration in London on Friday 8 March. She works with individuals, executives and teams to explore the dynamics of a workplace and discover a motivation and commitment to working productively together.“When I work together with people in a small group it is inspiring to see how we build on each other’s energy and help out with suggestions, experiences and support,” she explains.

The importance of a a pause, perspective and seeing afresh

Belinda also runs Pause Days, and The Short Pause, which is an opportunity to take time out to put things back into perspective and see things afresh.“Sometimes, it is the first time people have stopped and assessed where they are in their life – both in terms of personal and career goals,” she explains. Then things bubble up: perhaps things they were already aware of, or maybe things that they had not thought of previously. It’s so engrained in our culture to be busy, and we are judged on how productive and busy we are, that we don’t take time out to stop and reflect.”
