IKAN report: India introduces ‘e-Services’ for visa applications in Chennai

The government of India will be implementing ‘e-Services’ for all visa applications in the jurisdiction of the Foreigners Regional Registration Officer (FRRO) Chennai office.

The Bureau of Immigration (BoI), for the government of India, has launched and will be soon implementing ‘e-Services’ for rendering visa related services to all foreigners online.

With the implementation of ‘e-Services’, visa applicants to India will need to visit the Foreigners Regional Registration Officer (FRRO) office. The result should be a smooth, hassle free visa application experience.Currently, ‘e-Services’ are to be rolled out only at the FRRO, Chennai office from February 2018.All visa applicants residing within the jurisdictional limit of FRRO, Chennai can seek visa related services through the 'e-Services Online Portal'.

In order to avail the service, travellers are required to apply online themselves by registering with the ‘e-Services online portal’.Using the ‘e-Services’ in FRRO Chennai, will provide a faceless, cashless and paperless service with user friendly experience. Any communication with visa applicants regarding applications will be done through electronic means only (email/SMS).
