Business camp promotes entrepreneurship among students

The Bavarian International School (BIS) is hosting an entrepreneurial business camp in conjunction with Stanford University which will see students developing ideas for Tesla and SpaceX.

In cooperation with the renowned Stanford University of California, Bavarian International School (BIS) is organising a ‘Business Academy’ for all students who are interested in how business ideas are developed.

The English-language workshop, to be held from Monday 30 October to Friday 3 November 2017 at the Haimhausen campus of the school, is for 11 to 15-year-olds who want to prove their entrepreneurial skills.The Business Academy is being organised by ‘Camp BizSmart’, an entrepreneur academy that has had great success in America. Camp BizSmart is partnered with multiple award winning companies such as Google, automotive manufacturer Tesla, US space company SpaceX, innovation-makers Spark Labs and the Swiss battery company Battere.It was described by CNN as one of the ‘most unique’ camps of its type for students. 

Learning how leading companies develop business ideas

The participants – supervised by BIS and Stanford University teachers – will be shown how the world's leading Silicon Valley companies develop business ideas and how they transform them into consumer goods or services using the ‘Learn Do Check Act’ learning model developed by General Electric. The participants will learn how to act on a business idea, from market and competition analysis to design development and the development of prototypes, financing plans, sales and marketing concepts the A-Z of a business model is worked out within a competition.In addition, the students will learn about the ways of working in companies: team building, conflict resolution, decision making, business ethics and presentation techniques.

Each participant will be assigned to a business team and will have the opportunity to become a leader of a department such as management, marketing, distribution and finance.Five business days will be focussed on developing new business models, either the new Tesla electric car or a SpaceX project.The camp will culminate in the individual teams presenting their ideas to their competitors on 3 November 2017, hopefully inspiring the next generation of business leaders.
