Isle of Man remains safest place in the British Isles

The Isle of Man's Chief Constable's Annual Report, which was released in August 2022, has revealed that the Isle of Man continues to be the safest place to live in the British Isles.

The report, which compared the island to all 43 police force areas in England and Wales, also found that the Isle of Man’s crime severity rate was 40% lower when compared to the lowest scoring regions in England and Wales.

'A supremely safe place to live and do business'

The Chief Constable's annual report also concluded that the overall level of recorded crime on the Isle of Man has fallen by 6%, with burglaries falling by almost 40% to its lowest level for decades, and most categories of crime declining.Findings further highlighted there were fewer serious assaults on the island this year, with real signs of a slowdown in the growth of violent crime.Work also continues to be carried out by officers to combat drug trafficking, with several large seizures made during the year.Isle of Man Chief Constable, Gary Roberts QPM, said the island is even safer than it was in 2021: "The Isle of Man is even safer than it was last year and remains a supremely safe place in which to live, to do business or to visit."

Fourth safest place to live in the world

The report’s conclusions also support the Isle of Man’s ranking in a survey conducted by the World Population Review in June 2022, which rated the Isle of Man as the fourth safest place to live in the world.Neighbouring countries, including the UK, scored 73rd, with the Republic of Ireland just ahead in 70th. Only Qatar, the United Arab Emirates and Taiwan had a lower crime rate in figures gathered by the Review.Crime in the Isle of Man, or the lack of it, makes it an increasingly popular jurisdiction for relocators, particularly those looking to raise a family - testament to it being labelled as one of the safest places to live in the British Isles in the last several years.The local community is also renowned for their warm and welcoming demeanour when it comes to new arrivals to the island, making for a much smoother and more pleasant relocation experience.
