A new, state-of-the-art campus is to be built for ACS Doha. The new school will have a capacity of 2,470 students and will open in August 2020.  Following a series of successful meetings with Mohammed Sultan Al Jaber, chairman of Al Jaber Group, a 60,000 square metre site – over five times the size of ACS Doha’s present campus – was secured in Al Kheesa. Construction has already begun in earnest on the site.

Improving the learning space

Designed by internationally renowned architects Broadway Malyan, the stunning new campus will enhance the school’s academic and extra-curricular offer, boosting its successful International Baccalaureate and US High School Diploma programmes. At a special signing ceremony, chief executive of ACS International Schools, Tim Cagney and Mr Sultan Al Jaber signed the partnership agreement. British Ambassador to Qatar, Ajay Sharma witnessed the ceremony and commented, “I am delighted to be here today to see ACS, with its successful 50+ year history in international education in the UK, partner with Al Jaber Group, a leading Qatar organisation, to extend its forward-thinking and dynamic international education in the State of Qatar with this new school. I wish them every success.”

Growing Qatar's infrastructure

The new campus will be just 10 kilometres – or a 15-minute drive – from ACS Doha’s current Al Gharrafa campus. In addition, the new campus will benefit from a metro stop that will be built close by as part of Doha’s growing public transport network. It will also provide an opportunity for ACS Doha to serve the educational needs of a significant number of growing neighbourhoods including Lusail, the Pearl and Um Salal.

“ACS Doha is committed to making a significant contribution to the growth of Qatar,” said Mr Cagney. “We are honoured that this expansion resonates strongly with the human development goals of Qatar’s 2030 National Vision, and our own goal to make an ACS education available to more students around the world.“After more than 50 years in education in the UK and Qatar, the new campus will enhance our strong international reputation, ensuring we continue to attract the very best teachers and educational leaders from around the world.”

The demand for international education in Qatar

Since opening in 2011, ACS Doha has experienced rapid enrolment growth. The new campus will help meet future demand for school places and supports Qatar’s goal to become a top-tier employment destination for experienced teaching and administrative staff.“Our fantastic new campus will ensure that we can best prepare students in Doha for unrivalled academic success,” said Robert Cody, head of school at ACS Doha. “This will be the key to helping them gain entry to some of the best colleges and universities around the world.”The meticulously-planned campus has been designed to deliver an exceptional learning environment for both students and faculty, with specific attention given to creating spaces that drive academic rigour and extra-curricular programmes both in and outside the classroom. Buoyed by the support of the ACS community and empowered by its local and global network, ACS Doha is now well-positioned to further boost the quality of education in Qatar.
