Following the success of the International and Private Schools Education Forum (IPSEF) Middle East in September, IPSEF is hosting a one-day event in London for those interested in learning about opportunities within the private schools market and future trends.

Where is the private schools market headed?
The growth of private and international schools around the world has been one to watch in recent years. The International and Private Schools Education Forum (IPSEF) provides a unique platform for anyone interested in establishing or developing a school, either in their home territory or overseas. Ahead of IPSEF London on 15 November, we take a look at some of the latest research coming out of the Middle East marketplace.IPSEF Middle East revealed some key trends in the schools’ market in the region as highlighted by Ashwin Assomull, Managing Director, L.E.K. Consulting who presented his company’s positive findings on the UAE K-12 education landscape.

Growing revenue

According to Mr Assomull, Dubai and the UAE remain attractive destinations because of the safety of the country, the beneficial geographic location and the cultural setting.Leading the Middle East’s private education sector, L.E.K.’s research shows a 13% increase in revenue from 2015 to 2018 over 194 schools supporting 281,432 pupils in the private K-12 market.School search and education advice - connect with our in-country expertsAttendees of the IPSEF London event can expect to hear the latest market research from Europe, the Middle East and AsiaA notable trend in the Middle East private schools market is a growth in super premium and premium schools in Dubai and Abu Dhabi, as explained Mr Assomull, “The premium Dubai K12 market has grown at about 14% in revenue terms over the last three years. Part of that is enrolment, part of that is fees and part of it is mixed – for example, migration to high price point schools.”

With the Middle East, in particular the UAE, highly dedicated to providing wider access to education for all nationalities and price points, Mr Assomull suggests that a rise in demand and a flurry of new schools is good news for parents.

The importance of good marketing for schools

As the number of schools increases however, so does the need for schools to differentiate themselves in a crowded marketplace. From an institutional focus on STEM, as offered by some schools under the GEMS umbrella, to a strong track record in the performing arts such as Hartland International School. Or, an inherent ethos for supporting vulnerable children as demonstrated by The Riverston Group. Sessions at IPSEF London will look at how to stand out from the crowd by marketing your school effectively.
Fergus Rose, advancement director of ACS International Schools – a schools' group that is well known to the Global Mobility Sector – will be sharing his expertise on the international schools market in the Middle East at IPSEF London.
