Clifton College is celebrating an exceptional set of A Level and BTEC results, with pupils’ commitment and perseverance reflected in an impressive range of achievements across subjects.
This year’s outcomes include notably strong performances in Fine Art (100% A*-B), Photography (83% A*-B), English Literature (94% A*-B), Economics (96% A*-B) and Mathematics and Further Mathematics (80% A*-B) at A Level. BTEC results were equally strong, with Sport (88% D*-D), Music Technology (100% Distinction) and Applied Psychology (100% D*).
Pupils returned to the College on results morning to celebrate alongside friends, families and teachers, sharing their successes and discussing the exciting next steps ahead.
Among this year’s high achievers was Joung Youn, who joined Clifton College in the nursery and achieved four A*s in Maths, Further Maths, Economics and Music. She will progress to Imperial College London to study Economics, Finance and Data Science, and reflected warmly on the musical opportunities she enjoyed at Clifton, where she played both violin and organ.
Fergus, also a former nursery pupil, achieved an A* in Maths and three As in Further Maths, Physics and Computer Science, alongside an A in his Extended Project Qualification. He secured his first‑choice place at Bath University to study Robotics Engineering, praising the academic support available, particularly in Physics, and the strength of the House system.
Heather achieved three A*s in Maths, Chemistry and Physics, plus an A in AS Further Maths. She will begin Mechanical Engineering at Bath University this September and expressed gratitude for the one‑to‑one academic support and the breadth of co‑curricular opportunities, from climbing to music ensembles.
Halbie achieved double distinction in Sport BTEC and an A Level in Geography. He plans to spend a gap year developing his tennis coaching qualifications before progressing to university to study Sports Performance, noting the excellent support and accessibility of staff throughout his time at Clifton.
Sophie, who joined Clifton in the Sixth Form, achieved two A*s in Maths and History and an A in Chemistry, securing her place at Durham University to study Law. She highlighted the welcoming, social environment of the College and the wide range of sporting and musical opportunities she embraced.
The College is delighted that the majority of pupils have secured offers from their first‑choice universities, both in the UK and internationally, including the University of Hong Kong, Sciences Po (Paris), Yale University, and the University of Toronto. Their achievements open the door to a wide range of exciting opportunities as they take their next steps beyond school.
Christa Clark, Deputy Head Academic, said:
“We are thrilled to celebrate the outstanding achievements of our Year 13 students. Their results reflect not only academic excellence, but the maturity and ambition they have shown throughout their Sixth Form journey. Our pupils have developed into thoughtful, independent young adults ready to make a genuine impact on the world. We could not be prouder, and we wish them every success as they embark on this exciting next chapter as Old Cliftonians.”
Nick Mills, Head of Sixth Form, added:
“It is wonderful to see our students celebrating so much success this morning. With the vast majority heading to their first‑choice university and course, I wish them all the best for the next exciting stage of their lives.”
Dr Tim Greene, Head of College, said:
“I congratulate all our students on achieving such excellent results. Every set of grades tells a story of commitment, perseverance and the support they have received from their teachers. Their achievements are all the more impressive given their contributions across music, drama and sport. We wish every one of them the very best as they begin new chapters in their lives.”
Clifton College wishes all pupils continued success in their future endeavours and hopes they enjoy the remainder of their summer break.
