As one of Malaysia’s leading international schools, The International School of Kuala Lumpur (ISKL) embraces a holistic approach to education, focusing on nurturing the person rather than adopting a one-size-fits-all approach. Recognizing that every child learns differently, ISKL’s mission is to cultivate passions, values, and competencies that will inspire learners to shape their path as global citizens.Situated on a sprawling 25-acre campus in the heart of Kuala Lumpur, ISKL's state-of-the-art campus offers a world-class learning environment where students can discover their passions and shape their futures as global citizens.ISKL-group-of-students-wavingAs the school enters six decades of growth and development since its inception in 1965, it has witnessed significant changes to its campuses, from its humble beginnings in Jalan Maxwell to the picturesque campus with a stunning city skyline view in Ampang Hilir. However, one thing remains constant: the sense of community and belonging that makes ISKL a place students call home. This feeling has resonated deeply with generations of students. ISKL alumni Rika (‘24) captured it beautifully during the 2024 High School Graduation: “This place will always greet us with love, with sunshine, and with life. So much life. It will always say, welcome home.”That same heartfelt sentiment echoed once more this year, as Class of 2025 speaker Hyren reflected on the lasting connection students share with their ISKL journey. “We had our roots – strong, resilient, and adaptable. And now, as we step into the next chapter, we carry those roots with us. Not to hold us back, but to remind us of where we come from and how far we can go.”Together, their words reflect a common thread and capture the essence of ISKL's nurturing environment.ISKL’s holistic educational offerings include the world-renowned IB Diploma programme and the innovative PRAXIS and Pursuits programs. From Early Childhood through Grade 12, ISKL instills values such as self-directedness, creative thinking, critical reasoning, and effective communication—essential life skills that are integral to its learning principles and culture.Visiting a school is an essential step for parents to understand how their family can fit into the community and how their children can thrive. Christina Decu, ISKL's Director of Enrollment Management, emphasizes the importance of experiencing the school community and environment firsthand. She notes, "It is important for parents to visit a school and get a feel of how your family could be part of the community and your children to grow to be their best selves. We encourage families to take the time to come and visit us if they can, meet as many members of our community as possible, and experience ISKL in person. Here, we don't just enroll students—we enroll families."ISKL will hold its Open Day this September, providing families with the opportunity to explore the ISKL approach in preparing their children for the future. This event offers a chance to tour the state-of-the-art ISKL campus, hear from the Head of School, Mr. Rami Madani, and engage with key community members, including Student Admissions Representatives (STARs), Divisional Principals, and parents during a Q&A session.Head to iskl.site/openday to register for ISKL’s Open Day this September. We look forward to sharing what our school has to offer you and your family!
