A fantastic 51% of the grades received by the top 100 students were 9-8 grades, with a 100% pass rate. 49% of all BTEC results were an outstanding D*-D.
Charlie M is this year’s top achiever, receiving an incredible eight 9s, an A in Additional Maths and an A* in the PQ Bacc. A day student from Butleigh, Somerset, Charlie joined Millfield in Year 9. He was awarded for his Academic Commitment at this year’s Millfield Prize Giving. Charlie is one of four brothers to attend Millfield, and academic excellence clearly runs in the family. Last year, Charlie's brother Matthew was the school's top achiever for A Level, receiving an exceptional four A*s. Charlie will now progress onto Sixth Form at Millfield, where he will study Maths, Psychology, Economics and an EPQ.
Shakti P joined Millfield in Year 10 and is a boarder from India. She achieved eight 9s and an A* in the PQ Bacc. During her time at Millfield, she developed her passion for reading and writing, having a particular interest in journalism. Beyond the classroom, she is involved in the Girls in Sport group, volunteered weekly at the local YMCA youth club (as part of MBA), is a talented harpist, and has completed her Silver Duke of Edinburgh's Award.
Rebecca Z is a boarder from Beijing, China, who joined Millfield in Year 8. She achieved eight 9s, one 8 and an A in Additional Maths. Rebecca has been involved in Clay Shooting during her time at Millfield and has won numerous competitions with the team. Rebecca was recognised for her Academic Commitment and Academic Attainment in Chemistry at this year’s Millfield Prize Giving. She also achieved a distinction in The Mathematical Olympiad for Girls (MOG), a maths challenge that is aimed at girls and young women across the UK and consists of five challenging problems.
Luke B, a boarder from Hong Kong, joined Millfield Prep School in Year 5. Today he achieved eight 9s, one 8 and a B in Additional Maths. Luke is one of four siblings to have attended Millfield. An accomplished academic, Luke was recognised for his Academic Attainment in Economics at this year’s Millfield Prize Giving. Luke has made the most of the variety of opportunities available to him at Millfield, including music, drama and multiple sports. He is an accomplished cricketer, regularly representing the school in fixtures throughout the year.
Thomas S is a boarder from Dorset who joined Millfield in Year 9. He achieved eight 9s, two 8s and a B in additional Maths. Alongside his academic studies, Thomas is a strong hockey player. Earlier this year, he earned selection to the England Hockey Talent Pathway, recognising him as one of the country's most promising young players.
Valentina B is a boarder from London who joined Millfield in Year 8. She achieved seven 9s, two 8s and an A in Additional Maths. During her time at school, she developed into an outstanding tennis player. Earlier this year, she earned her first ITF Junior ranking point at the ITF Junior Newport J30, securing her place in the ITF World Junior Rankings. She built on this achievement with an impressive run to the quarterfinals of the ITF Junior Casablanca J30.
Adrien L, from Devon, joined Millfield in Year 10, and is a boarder in Kingweston House. Today he received eight 9s and one 7. Adrien is a keen footballer, taking part in multiple training sessions a week at Kingweston, and representing the school regularly in fixtures.
Tumi M joined Millfield Prep in Year 7, and is a boarder from Essex. She achieved seven 9s, two 8s and an A in additional Maths. During her time at Millfield, she has been part of the swim team, regularly representing the school in competitions and has competed regularly at nationals. Tumi also plays netball to a high standard. She has attended many academic workshops, works hard during her free time and currently has aspirations to study medicine. In the spring term, Tumi presented a Brilliance Breakfast, where she discussed the topic: ‘Designer Babies: Where Genetics Meets Ethics’. A fascinating discussion took place regarding the pros, cons and ethical concerns of gene editing in babies.
Woody O’B, a day pupil from Somerset, joined Millfield in Year 9. Today he achieved six 9s, two 8s, an A in Additional Maths and an A* in the PQ Bacc. Woody has a strong interest in data science and analytics, especially in the world of sport, mainly cricket and football. Woody’s interest in cricket has shown through at Millfield as he's played for his county at U16 level. He was awarded for Academic Attainment in Maths at this year’s Millfield Prize Giving.
Ellie D is a day pupil from Somerset, who joined Millfield in Year 7. She achieved five 9s, three 8s, and an A* on the PQ Bacc. During her time at Millfield, Ellie has been a committed member of the athletics team, regularly representing both the school and her county across multiple events. She has also enjoyed playing football and has been a key member of Millfield’s first team, competing in numerous matches and tournaments.
Zoe W, a boarder from Beijing, joined Millfield in Year 9. She achieved five 9s, four 8s and an B in Additional Maths. During her time at Millfield, Zoe has been part of the school orchestra and participated in Badminton, Squash and Dance. She was awarded for her Academic Attainment in Biology at Millfield’s Prize Giving, alongside an award for Academic Commitment.
Jason S, a boarder from Shanghai, China, joined Millfield Prep School in Year 7. Today he achieved six 9s, two 8s, one 6 and an A in Additional Maths. Jason is an accomplished musician, having achieved grade 8 in Cello this year, and received the Music Co-Curricular award at this year’s Millfield Prize Giving. He was also recognised for his Academic Commitment and Academic Attainment in Computer Science. Jason also delivered a presentation to his peers during a Brilliance Breakfast event earlier this year, showcasing a self-coded handwriting recognition system and the journey of developing a computer game.
Sofia V is a boarder from London who joined Millfield in Year 10. She achieved five 9s, three 8s, and one 7. Sofia was also recognised at this year’s Prize Giving for her academic achievements, receiving the Academic Attainment Award for Business.
Kaden F is a day student from Street who joined Millfield in year 7. Today Kaden achieved four 9s, three 8s, one 7, an A in Additional Maths and an A* in the PQ Bacc. During his time at Millfield, Kaden has been a competitive swimmer, regularly representing the school; he has swam in high level competitions, including the Aquatics GB Next Gen Championships and Swim England National events.
Enid M is a day pupil from Somerset who joined Millfield Prep in Year 7. She achieved five 9s, two 8s and two 7s. During her time at school, she embraced a wide range of music and drama opportunities, making a significant contribution to both. Her dedication has been recognised with a place on Millfield's Music Honours Board for her involvement with the Rodolfus Choir, and she was also nominated for the Apollo Award at this year's Brilliance Awards in recognition of her outstanding commitment and achievements.
Oskar G is a boarder from Hampshire who joined Millfield in Year 9. He achieved five 9s, two 8s and two 7s. During his time at Millfield, Oskar has participated in a range of sports, with a particular focus on athletics. He has represented Millfield at numerous competitions and has also competed at county level in multiple events.
Livi S is a day student from Glastonbury, who joined Millfield Prep in Year 6. Today she achieved five 9s, two 8s and two 7s. Livi is a key member of the Millfield Equestrian programme. Last year, she was selected to ride for England teams at the Southview Home Pony International event and recently she won the STX pony fox hunter class at Welsh Home Ponies, automatically qualifying her to Horse of the Year Show at the NEC in Birmingham in October. She is also a strong hockey player and represents the Millfield team in fixtures throughout the year.
A huge congratulations to the following students, who achieved above a grade 8 on average: Kaden F, Olivia M, Joshua S, Emily H, Kimberly K, Jack S, Luke S, Lola S, Vienna T, Megan B and Erin M-D.
We are also delighted to celebrate the top achievers from our 11@Millfield Programme: Jakob W, David X, Kuzey A and Sylvia W. The programme is designed to engage and challenge students over the course of a single year. It is suitable for ambitious 15 or 16 -year-old students, either international or from the UK, who wish to engage with a broad academic programme that will prepare them for Sixth Form and beyond.
