Under the new administration we have seen some promising signs. The proposal to rescind the H4 Employment Authorization Document (EAD) was withdrawn in January and with the introduction of the US Citizenship Act of 2021, there is opportunity for immigration reform. We anticipate a number of related policy announcements in the coming months where there may be further scope for change. In response to the concerns flagged by our network, Permits Foundation has produced a new US position paper with policy recommendations. We reference the need for a more inclusive immigration system and a streamlined process, facilitating direct access to employment for dependants of highly-skilled mobile employees.Permits Foundation’s US position paper is now available here  Through 2021 and beyond, Permits Foundation will be making the case to the Department of Homeland Security, US Citizenship and Immigration Services and US Congress representatives to take up our recommendations, both where there can be short term solutions and via longer term legislative change. We will offer our support and assistance to the authorities and to representatives from both sides of the House. Please do share the paper with your network and let us know if you would like to be more actively involved in our US activities. Finally, we invite you to mark 25 November in your diary, the date for our 20th Anniversary Conference, where we will be discussing advocacy developments in the US among other priority countries.
