SEK Education Group inaugurates its first school in the Red Sea region in partnership with Red Sea Global
The Spanish educational group strengthens its presence in the Middle East, which will total five schools in the region, with the opening of this school located in Turtle Bay, as part of Red Sea Global’s project in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabian

Turtle Bay (Saudi Arabia), September 8, 2025.– SEK Education Group today officially inaugurated its new school, Turtle Bay International School (TBIS), in partnership with Red Sea Global (RSG). Located in the Red Sea region, the school opens its doors to provide international education from early years to secondary and is a candidate school for the International Baccalaureate (IB) Primary Years Programme (PYP) and Middle Years Programme (MYP).The opening ceremony was presided over by Nieves Segovia, President of SEK Education Group, and John Pagano, CEO of Red Sea Global, together with Ms. Marta Montesino, Head of TBIS, Mr. Zehar Filemban, Exec. Dir. of Talent Development of RSG, as well as representatives of the Saudi Ministry of Education.During the inauguration, a symbolic ribbon-cutting took place, accompanied by the ringing of the school bell as a representation of the beginning of the academic year. The event concluded at the school’s amphitheatre with the planting of an olive tree accompanied by the message: “An olive tree for peace, a school for wisdom, together, ahead for a better future.” This gesture represents the shared values of growth, peace, and sustainability of SEK Education Group and Red Sea Global.
During the ceremony, Nieves Segovia highlighted: “The expansion in the Red Sea allows us to continue building educational bridges that transcend borders and generate positive impact, offering the communities of the region an international, innovative, and sustainable learning model that prepares students to become global citizens committed to the future.”For his part Ahmed Ghazi Darwish, Group Chief Administrative Officer at RSG of Red Sea Global, said: “The opening of Turtle Bay International School marks an important milestone in our vision to create vibrant, thriving communities at The Red Sea. Education is at the heart of every successful society, and through our partnership with SEK Education Group, we are ensuring that families who call Turtle Bay home have access to world-class learning opportunities. This school not only supports our people and partners today, but also helps nurture the next generation of innovators, leaders, and global citizens.”TBIS incorporates SEK’s own pedagogical model, based on the concept of the Intelligent Classroom, an approach that combines active methodologies supported by technological innovation and flexible spaces for personalized teaching and learning. The school will also serve as a laboratory for innovation in the use of artificial intelligence applied to learning.With this opening, SEK Education Group consolidates its position as the only Spanish-origin school network with a presence in the Middle East, where it already has schools in Qatar, Oman, Bahrain, and Saudi Arabia.
