A Brilliant Year of GCSE Results at Clifton College

Clifton College extended huge congratulations to all pupils receiving their GCSE results today.

It was an excellent set of results and a morning full of celebration. Pupils returned to the College to share their achievements with friends, parents and teaching staff, creating a joyful and memorable atmosphere. Key achievements include:
  • 38% of all GCSE grades were a grade 8 or 9
  • 20 pupils earned 5 or more grade 9s
  • 760 grades at 7-9
The College spoke with several pupils about their fantastic grades and the support that helped them reach these milestones, highlighting both their hard work and the strength of the Clifton College community.Robert, who joined Clifton College in the Prep-Prep, achieved twelve grade 9s and will be going on to study Maths, Further Maths, Physics and Chemistry in our Sixth Form this September, where he is most looking forward to participating in more national competitions in Physics. He praised his teachers for always being available to help, and said the support he received had been amazing.Flower joined the Prep School in Year 7 and received ten grade 9s and one grade 8 and was very happy with her results. She will be staying on at Clifton College Sixth Form to study Maths, Economics, History and French. She said the support from the College had been really useful, especially exam preparation and revision and exam techniques guidance. She looks forward to studying the subjects she loves in more detail and spending time with her friends in the Modern Languages Cafe next year.Josh also joined in Year 7 and achieved eight 9s, two 8s and a 7 and is looking forward to studying Maths, Further Maths, Chemistry and Physics at Clifton College Sixth Form. He found the support he received in English particularly helpful, especially the extra clinics he attended, which helped to raise his grades. He is excited to be able to lead in the House Play Festival next year.Darcy, who joined in Year 5, received an excellent set of results across the board, and will be going on to study for a Level 3 Extended Diploma in Musical Theatre at The Bristol Conservatoire of Theatre Arts. She said she really appreciated the extra work set, and time taken for clinics in Drama, which saw 80% of students achieve 9-7.Archie joined in the nursery and achieved nine grade 9s and a grade 8. He will continue to study at our Sixth Form, and plans to take History and Politics A Levels, with a third subject still to be decided. He is looking forward to concentrating more on the subjects he enjoys, and to spending time with his friends who will also be staying at Clifton College.Executive Head of Clifton College and CCEG, Dr Chris Stevens, said: “Many congratulations to Clifton’s GCSE cohort of 2026 on these impressive results. There are some outstanding achievements across the group with evidence of excellent progress over the year, testifying to individual hard work and great support from staff.
