The end of EHIC? New private health plan for expats in France

International private medical insurance (IPMI) provider, APRIL International Care, has launched MyHealth France – a new policy designed to cover expats’ medical insurance needs before and after Brexit.

Medical insurance in France after Brexit
With the fate of the European Health Insurance Card (EHIC) among the many areas of uncertainty for the UK’s estimated 150,000 nationals living in France, APRIL International Care is introducing MyHealth France to offer additional medical insurance to all expatriates in the country. The new health policy's launch follows warnings from professional services firms that employers need to start preparing for a more complicated and burdensome system of national insurance payments when they send employees abroad.

What medical costs are UK nationals covered for in France?

Currently, UK holders of the EHIC card can access state-provided healthcare in France at a reduced cost and sometimes for free. This includes for treatment of pre-existing medical conditions and for routine maternity care.
